AptAlert NYC checks public rental listings from Craigslist, StreetEasy and LeaseBreak for saved NYC searches. It can send matching listing links by email or Telegram. Premium Monthly costs $3 for the first month, then $10 per month. A free account lets you set up a search, but alerts require an active entitlement. You can also use each source's own search tools without paying AptAlert.
Which sources and filters are covered?
- Craigslist: public rental posts; match by borough or neighborhood, price and bedrooms. Verify the advertiser and original post before sending money.
- StreetEasy: public rental listings; match by location, price and bedrooms. Transit-line filtering is available for this source only.
- LeaseBreak: public lease takeover and sublet listings; match by location, price and bedrooms. Check lease terms and availability on the original page.
How often are listings checked?
Automated checks are scheduled every five minutes; StreetEasy is checked about every 30 minutes. A source outage, changed listing page, matching rules, email batching or delivery delay can affect when you receive a match. These are check schedules, not a guaranteed time from posting to alert, and we cannot guarantee every listing will be captured.
What does the paid plan add over free saved searches?
The practical benefit is one saved search that watches the three sources and sends email or Telegram matches. Email can be batched to reduce noise; Telegram and email are the available channels, not SMS. Premium supports up to ten search profiles. Compare this convenience with the current free alert features on each listing site before subscribing.
Can the alerts confirm a no-fee or safe apartment?
No. AptAlert does not verify the advertiser, fee disclosure, availability or apartment. StreetEasy retired its no-fee filter when NYC's FARE Act took effect in June 2025, so AptAlert has paused broker-fee filtering rather than infer fee status from missing labels. The FARE Act generally requires the landlord to pay a broker they hired; you may still pay a broker you independently choose. Read the original listing, get all charges in writing and verify the property and advertiser before paying.
Who is this useful for?
It is most useful when you want to monitor several sources during an active NYC apartment search and prefer one email or Telegram workflow. If a single source's own saved search gives you enough coverage, start there. Set your budget and neighborhoods realistically, then use every alert as a lead to check, not proof of a valid offer.
